How It Works
When you place a bid on BidandStudy, accredited language schools review your proposal and may send you real offers. You are never obligated to accept. Once you accept an offer, you pay a service fee to BidandStudy to secure your spot and unlock full communication with the school.
The exact service fee percentage is displayed clearly on each offer before you accept. For most schools, the standard fee is 15% of the tuition value. However, this may vary depending on the school and program — you will always see the exact amount before making any commitment.
This fee is held in escrow by BidandStudy until the start of the first week of your course, at which point it is released. This protects both you and the school.
What You Pay and When
US$ 15 Bid Fee
One bid = US$ 15. This fee keeps bids serious and helps maintain the quality of the marketplace. The Bid Fee is non-refundable, regardless of outcome.
Service Fee (held in escrow)
Paid after you accept an offer. The standard rate is 15% of the tuition value, but this may vary by school and will always be clearly shown on the offer. This fee secures your choice, unlocks the school's full identity and contact details, and opens direct messaging with both the school and BidandStudy. The fee is held in escrow until the start of your first week of classes.
Tuition & Accommodation
Any amounts paid directly to the school (the remaining balance) are governed by the school's own policies. BidandStudy does not hold these funds. Consult the school's terms for tuition and accommodation refund conditions.
Free Cancellation (When Offered)
Some schools provide Free Cancellation up to a defined number of days before the course start date. When available, you will see a FREE CANCELLATION badge on the offer, including the exact deadline (e.g., "Full refund up to 28 days before start").
Free Cancellation terms are set by each individual school and will be clearly visible before you accept the offer.
When the Service Fee IS Refundable
- The school withdraws the accepted offer
- The school cannot honor the agreed terms (price, dates, inclusions)
- The offer explicitly includes "Visa refusal refund" and you provide official proof of denial within the stated deadline
- Any other school-specific refundable scenario explicitly shown on the offer page
- BidandStudy cancels the transaction due to a platform issue
When the Service Fee is NOT Refundable
- You choose not to proceed after accepting the offer
- You miss the offer validity deadline
- You don't complete necessary steps (documents, payments to school)
- The offer doesn't include visa refusal or free cancellation coverage matching your situation
- You provided incorrect or misleading information affecting eligibility
- The course has already started
Escrow Timeline
After you accept an offer and pay the service fee, the funds are held securely in escrow by BidandStudy or our payment partners.
The escrow is released at the start of the first week of your course. If any refund-eligible event occurs before that point, the refund is processed from escrow.
Once the escrow is released, refunds of the service fee are no longer available through BidandStudy.
How to Request a Refund
Submit your refund request through the messaging area inside the platform, addressed directly to BidandStudy.
We aim to review and respond within 7 business days. You may be asked to provide supporting documentation (e.g., official visa refusal letter).
Where to See Your Terms
Specific cancellation and refund terms for each school are shown on the offer before you accept. Each offer displays:
- The exact service fee percentage and amount
- Free cancellation eligibility and deadline (if applicable)
- Visa refusal refund eligibility (if applicable)
- The offer validity deadline
Make sure to review all terms carefully before accepting any offer.
